Description
Udo Jürgens, bourgeois Udo Jürgen Bockelmann, was a composer, pianist and singer of mainly German-language songs - but also (among other) English-language songs. Besides the Austrian, he also had Swiss citizenship since 2007. Udo Jürgens was one of the most successful commercial musicians in the German-speaking world with more than 100 million sales of sound recordings. His active career lasted for nearly 60 years. In 1966, he was the first Austrian to win the Eurovision de la Chanson Grand Prix (today Eurovision Song Contest).

On 21 December 2014, Udo Jürgens collapsed unconscious during a walk in Gottlieben in the canton of Thurgau and died of heart failure at the age of 80 despite a revitalization attempt in the hospital of Münsterlingen. Udo Jürgens was cremated on 23 December 2014. He was buried on May 9th, 2015 in an honorary ceremony of the City of Vienna (Group 33G, Grave No. 85) at the Zentralfriedhof.
