Description
Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, since 1982 Marqués de Púbol (born May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Catalonia, 23 January 1989) was a Spanish painter, graphic artist, writer, sculptor and stage designer. As one of the main representatives of surrealism, he is one of the most famous painters of the 20th century. Around the year 1929, Dalí had found his personal style and genre, the world of the unconscious which appears in dreams. Melting clocks, crutches, and burning giraffes became the distinguishing features of Dalí's painting. His painterly technical ability allowed him to paint his paintings in an old-masterly style, reminiscent of later photo-realism.

Salvador Dalí died of heart failure in 1989 at the age of 84 years. At his own request he was buried in the crypt under the glass dome of his theater museum, the Teatre-Museu Dalí, in Figueres, not on the side of Gala in the tomb of Púbol Castle. His body was embalmed to last at least 300 years; It is wrapped in a tunic adorned with the crown of a Marquès and decorated with a border representing the double helix. [54] As heirs to the splendid houses and many paintings he used the Spanish state. Today, the museum is a first-rate tourist attraction and fascinates visitors from all over the world.
