Description
Romy Schneider (born 23 May 1938 in Vienna, 29 May 1982 in Paris, bourgeois Rosemarie Magdalena Albach) was a German-French actress who, in the middle of the 1950s, performed as Empress "Sissi" in the films of the same name (1955, 1956, 1957) and later won many awards in films such as "Der Kardinal" (1963), "Nachtblende" (1975) and "The Strollers of Sans-Souci" (1982). In addition to Marlene Dietrich, Lilli Palmer and Hildegard Knef, she is one of the few German film-makers of the 20th century who have achieved worldwide success and gained international fame.

Romy Schneider died of heart failure on 29 May 1982 at the age of 43 in Paris.

Schneider was buried in the cemetery of Boissy-sans-Avoir. At the instigation of Alain Delon, who had organized her burial, her son was transferred from the cemetery in Saint-Germain-en-Laye to his mother's grave.
