Natalie Maria Cole was an American singer, songwriter and actress. She was the daughter of jazz singer Nat King Cole and Marie Ellington.

In her more than 40-year career, 13.5 million albums were sold in the United States, making her one of the most successful singers in the R & B, soul and jazz genres. She was awarded nine Grammys for her performance as a singer.

Her first album, Inseparable, appeared in 1975; The following year Cole received a Grammy in the category "Best New Artist".

She recorded albums in the fields of soul, jazz, pop and dance. My Love (1978), Someone That I Used to Love (1980), Jumpstart and I Live for Your Love (1987) ), Pink Cadillac (1988), Miss You Like Crazy (1989) and Unforgettable (1991, a retrospective duet with her deceased father). The album Unforgettable - With Love sold alone in the United States over seven million times and received numerous Grammy awards.

In December 2015, Cole had to cancel several planned performances because of her illness. She died of heart failure at the age of 65 on the evening of December 31, 2015 at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Natalie Cole was buried on January 11, 2016 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Glendale, California.
