Loalwa Braz Vieira (born June 3, 1953 in Rio de Janeiro, † January 19, 2017) was a Brazilian singer and songwriter. As a singer of the French-Brazilian pop group Kaoma, she was world-famous in 1989 with the song Lambada, which reached the top spot of the hit parades in eleven countries. In the night of January 19, 2017, her corpse was found in a burnt-out car near her home. On the same day, the police arrested three men who were suspected of murdering Braz Vieira.
