James Byron Dean was an American theater and film actor. His early death in an autounfall and his role in ... because they do not know what they do made him a youth idol. For his roles in Beyond Eden and Giants, he received two Oscarnominations as the Best Actor.

At the intersection of California State Route 41 with the California State Route 46 near Cholame, Dean and his co-driver Wütherich met a Ford. His driver, Donald Turnupseed, left the car a few minutes before accelerating and decelerating to the left and took Dean to the right - he had not seen Dean's Porsche coming. Dean had not switched on the headlights despite dusk and did not have time to dodge, so he drove unbraked into the Ford. Wütherich was thrown out of the vehicle, the Porsche remained in the road extinguishing. Both men were sent to a nearby hospital, with Dean only death could be found there.

One day after Dean's death, his body was taken by plane to Indianapolis and buried on the 9th of October at the Park Cemetery in Fairmount.
