Fernand Joseph Désiré Contandin (born May 8, 1903 in Marseille, France) was a French actor and singer, known under the name of Fernandel, and was mainly known for the Don Camillo films, The books of Giovanni Guareschi.
During the shooting of a sixth Don Camillo film Fernandel died at the age of 67 years in the late evening of 26 February 1971 in Paris at lung cancer. He was buried at the Cimetière de Passy in Paris.
