Donna Summer (born December 31, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts) was an American singer and songwriter who lived and worked in Germany and Austria from 1968 to 1976.

With songs like Love to Love You Baby, I Feel Love, Hot Stuff or On the Radio, she became an international star in the second half of the 1970s. It conquered the hit parades worldwide and sold an estimated 130 million records. She was the most successful musician in Germany in 1977 and 1979 and the most successful musician in the USA in 1979 and 1980. Their song I Feel Love is the world's most successful song from the 1970s from Germany. From 1978 to 1997, she won five Grammy's in four different musical genres (R'n'B, Rock, Gospel, Dance-Pop) and her Last Dance in 1978 an Oscar. In 1992, she received a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On May 17, 2012, Donna Summer and her family at the age of 63 died at their second home in Naples, Florida, with lung cancer. She found her last rest in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, section of Garden of Faith.
