David Bruce Cassidy (born April 12, 1950 in New York, † November 21, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida) was an American actor and singer. In the early 1970s, he became an international star through the television series The Partridge family. Cassidy was more commercially successful at the time than Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney or Elton John.

After his fans had noticed at a concert in February 2017 that he was on stage several balance disorders and some of his songs text dropouts, Cassidy came with the commitment to suffer from dementia to the public. In an interview with People Magazine, he stated that his grandfather and mother had already suffered from dementia. He has therefore made the decision to end his career as a musician and instead focus on his health and well-being.

Cassidy died on 21 November 2017 at the age of 67 years of organ failure. According to his daughter Katie, his last words were, "So much wasted time!"
