Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer, guitarist and songwriter (born February 6, 1945 in Miami, Florida, actually Robert Nesta Marley, from Berhane Selassie in March 1981). He was one of the most important representatives of Reggae, whose co-founder he was and who became internationally known through him and his band The Wailers from the mid-1970s onwards.

Among his most famous songs are Buffalo Soldiers, Get Up, Stand Up, I Shot the Sheriff, No Woman No Cry, Could You Be Loved, Redemption Song and Stir It Up. In addition to his musical work, Marley spread the message of the Rastafarian movement. Marley was and is an important identifier for her supporters and for many people in the Third World.

Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981, at the age of 36, of cancer in the hospital (today's Jackson Memorial Hospital). His coffin was transferred from Kingston to his home village, Nine Miles, in Jamaica. In a national funeral, he was buried in a mausoleum with a Bible, his guitar, a red gibson, a marijuana branch and a ring, which was given him personally by Haile Selassie in a private study.
