Audrey Hepburn was an actress of British-Dutch origin. She was one of the leading female stars in the 1950s and 1960s. For her artistic achievements, she was awarded the Oscar, an Emmy, two Tony Awards and the Grammy. It is one of the few artists who have won all four major awards of the American entertainment industry.
In her later years she devoted mainly to her work as a special ambassador for UNICEF.
On November 1, 1992, the doctors diagnosed their colorectal cancer at an advanced stage. She was operated on and underwent chemotherapy. Audrey Hepburn died on January 20, 1993, at the age of 63, at her home in Tolochenaz, on Lake Geneva, and was buried in the local cemetery.
