Alan Thicke was a Canadian film and television actor, talk and gameshow presenter and songwriter. He is known to the German public from the series "Unser lautes Heim".

Alan Thicke was known in Germany mainly by the representation of the family father Dr. Jason Seaver in the Sitcom Our loud home. The series ran from 1985 to 1992 on ABC in the USA and was broadcast since 1993 in Germany on ProSieben.

In addition, Thicke appeared in countless TV series and films as a guest actor. He also played major roles in Demolition High, where he played Corey Haim's father, and The Cry of the Dove as Jack West.

Thicke composed numerous title melodies for American television. Together with his ex-wife Gloria Loring, he was, among other things, for the melody of the sitcom questions Arnold? responsible. He was also a composer of the title melody for the American original of the wheel of fortune.

On the Canadian television, Alan Thicke moderated numerous game and talkshows. The most famous were The Alan Thicke Show and Thicke of the Night.

Thicke published two books in the USA.

Thicke died on 13 December 2016 at the age of 69 years as a result of a heart attack.
He was buried at the Santa Barbara cemetery in Santa Barbara, California on 20 December 2016.
